Week 6 "After Repentance"

[Note to Parents: This week we studied David and Bathsheba's story. If you are unaware, David committed adultery when he had Bathsheba brought to him while her husband, one of his mighty men, was on the battlefield. She became pregnant. To cover this sin, David tried to entice Uriah to come home and sleep with his wife so no one would know. Trying to cover his sin didn't work as planned and David ordered Uriah to be killed in battle at the hands of the enemy. Eventually, David in a low place, cries out to God and admits his sin. God forgives David but he still suffers the consequences of his sin when their child dies and troubles plague his family. There is redemption in their story, Bathsheba will become the mother of the next king of Israel, Solomon. The actions and consequences and the sins committed here, may not be appropriate to discuss in detail with your children because of their age or maturity.
